with larry ham and bill moring - larry plays about the most perfect first chorus I've ever heard. and leaves nice big holes in which to answer. bill has such a big fat beat! whatever instrumentation or groove is being used, the true essence of jazz is a conversation, not a gymnastic monologue.

again with larry and bill. just a short clip with a one chorus solo. after all these years I'm still trying to play in the snappy fashion of the great 50's drummers - Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, Max Roach, Jimmy Cobb, et al.

this is a little sloppy in places, but it feels great, and the singer brent carter is ridiculously great, not to mention paul livant, my favorite guitar player. shuffles are no joke.
